He has been selected as the Indian Ambassador for the 2010 Olympic Games, which will commence from January 30, 2010 in Vancouver, Canada. Along with 15 other international celebrities, Akshay will not only represent India, but is the only star representing the the Global Entertainment Industry. This prestige comes shortly after the actor received the highest Japanese honour of the 'Katana' (a type of Japanese sword). Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper introduced Akshay as the sole torch-bearer from India for the Olympics.
